Name: Kathleen
Location: Reading, Pennsylvania
Birthday: 10/13/1988
Gender: Female

Interests: Music is my life. Violin, viola, piano, voice, and mallet percussion. Sitting along side music is my love of nature, people, and basically all things beautiful in their simplicity or complexity. One of my dreams is to live in Europe and become fluent in French.
Expertise: I excel in everything I put my mind to. It's just hard to point my brain in one direction. So basically I excel in hardly anything :-P Oh, yay to intellectual conversations!!! :-D Other than that, I love listening to people, and I've become quite good at it. Mostly I'm on the quiet side unless I'm really comfortable around someone or I'm in a funky mood... heh heh... That tends to happen a lot. My myspace site is Violinundviola and my facebook pictures: http://hs.facebook.com/photos.php?id=1475820145&l=a502d

Harry Potter VII

I completely bawled for the last 100 pages.

I donno... this book just seemed so much more..... real... Honest and brutal. I cried for characters that never existed except for in the minds of millions of people. But I think that makes them more real than people who are alive but who don't live. I think that also makes them worth crying over.

RIP my dead friends of J. K. Rowling's world. And for the rest; may you live on in our imaginations.

Me and My Life

So this is me. This is me, on a bus, early in the morning, with my viola and iPod. Therefore I wasn't quite awake, but I actually don't have many "normal" pictures of myself... hmm.

In addition to playing viola, I play violin:

And various percussion stuff:

(though not very well)

My family is pretty awesome. My parents got divorced when I was 6 which isn't awesome, but now I have a very interesting step dad and two completely bizarre step brothers, so that makes life interesting. Starting from the left, the back row goes: Duncan (step bro, 15 this July) Andrew (brother, 16) Logan (step bro, 17) Andrew Hunter (step dad. We won't go into ages with the adults but let's just say he hit the 40 mark last week, hehe. We gave him this huge surprise birthday party. lots of fun). Then the second row starts with my Nona (great grandmother) Nonie (grandmother) Me, and then ends with my mom. The front row is my Mom's sister Andrea, followed by my cousin Madeline or Maddie for short, Bailey my other cousin, my Uncle Tom, and lastly my youngest brother Benjamin at age 14. My boyfriend Kyle took the picture. We were on vacation at the outer banks.

Andrew, my brother, just started getting into acting. In the fall play for this past school year, he got a lead in the play Androcles and the Lion as the part of the lion. Yeah. That's him. The big fuzzy brown thing. He also sings a lot. The both of us are going to sing the National Anthem sometime this summer for the first annual bike race in Reading.

Ben started playing the flute a few years ago. He just started taking it seriously and made it into the first flute section this year at band. He also plays with the orchestra. It's always easy to pick him out because he's the only guy flute player. Hehe. He's thinking of picking up either trumpet or guitar this summer.

In addition, we also have lots of pets:

Those were just a few... but the puppy is Caprica. She's full grown, now, but she's a mini jack russel terror, opps, I mean terrior. Then Orsen is the loopy mut. He does this gazel leap when he runs that is just hilarious. The ducks and chickens you see there are only a few of what we have. The chickens in that picture are still babies though we have about a dozen full grown ones. Then our cat Arthur turns out to not be a male when we figured out she was pregnant. Arthur becomes Artimus and we get four little ones in the process. You see three there. We kept the one with the most white and my boyfriend kept the other two. The fourth we gave away before that picture was taken.

Kyle could probably be considered part of the family, too, since he's around so much. Well, more than any non-family member at any rate. His hair is shorter, now, but I really like this picture and haven't uploaded my prom pictures yet.

My friends are pretty awesome. This is some of us playing spoons. Spoons and Egyptian Ratscrew are the highlight of every pmea music festival. Oh yeah, we didn't have any spoons so we were using my gum.

Hehe. We all love each other very much.

Oh yeah. This is our quartet, too.

It's more fun than it looks. Hehe.

Anyway. No matter how you look at it, I have a pretty awesome and interesting life.

Ah, ah, ah, ah

Staying alive. Still alive and still lacking funds for Peabody, but I sent my deposit to Ithaca so that's where I'm going next year. And you know what? I'm not upset. I love Ithaca and I love Ms. Moree my teacher. I like her even more than the guy at Peabody and the teacher is supposed to be the most important part of choosing a school when you're a music major. I think I'll do well there. I won't be the worst player yet I won't be the best. Plus if Logan goes to Cornell next year, that'll make things easier for my parents because they can visit two kids with one drive.

For the record, though, this month is insane. I already have had 4 performances and still have 2 more before the school year ends. None of the music is stuff I did for college auditions so it's all new repetoire. At the BCCC Banquet I performed the first movement of the first unaccompanied cello suite by Bach memorized. Then at Agnes's recital I played the first movement of the Stamitz, played that again at the school spring concert but this time with the orchestra, and the RSYO concert was the most difficult one we've had. We played the Glinka, Greensleeves, the ENTIRE Mendelssohn violin concert, and the ENTIRE Dvorak's 8th Symphony (the cello symphony!) not to mention our encore of Lord of the... rings... flies... Dance. Tomorrow I'm playing the Prelude of the 3rd Unaccompanied Bach Cello Suite without having a lesson on it and then I get to play whatever I want at my Grandmother's piano recital, plus I get to play the Maple Leaf Rag. I was also going to play the Poet and Peasant Overture on the piano as a duet with Megan, but that was just too much. I can only practice for so long what with trying to finish up school. Oh! Then on the same day as the piano recital, my brother and I get to sing the National Anthem at the opening of that huge bike race they are having in Reading. I want to arrange it for us but that also takes time so we're just using an SATB arrangement the Governors and First Ladies use at school and will invite Jess Merz and Chris Morganti to sing with us so we have all the voice parts covered.

So I think I have to stop typing. Really I'm just trying to avoid doing my school work. So well... no one ever reads these and xanga is basically dead. But hey, I like writing and procrastinating. Though now I think I'm ready to kick that US Government course's butt.

Peabody Conservatory of Music

I am conservatory material. I'm accepted at a University, College, and a Conservatory. Temple, Ithaca, and Peabody. Holy crap. The Peabody Conservatory of Music. I honestly didn't think I was good enough. Ithaca surprised me. Peabody completely blew me out of the water. I never saw it coming. Good lord... I'm accepted everywhere I applied!

I am one happy musician
